Finally the first release!!

It's been a longtime that i updated my site here but what better way to update as with the notice of a release??

Well, not tonight because i still have to make some little tweaks to the read me, need to upload the patch to some places and then finalize the thread at RHDN, GBATEMP and naturally CR.

Still alive but half dead

Saddly things are not really proceeding like we would hope but still there is interest on doing this.
Actually not much to say, because everybody was busy with something else as this.
We are missing  the evidence and profile text, there is some Unicode in memory that nobody really know where it comes from, thanks to me we have bigger text windows but the "normal" need to be moved by ASM 8 pixel up.
Saddly I never got to move the text like Hackerdelaplaque did, we have a bigger speaker tab (thanks to me again) and probably a flexible one (4-8 tiles width),  I have started to move the profile/evidence graphics up to make place to the text that will be put below the "rails".

Oooppsss....I think I saw a translation project!!!

Life never go they way we think and we want her to go... it wasn't planned that I get involved in this project but I did fall deeeeeep inside the rabbit hole:p
At least the things are going more or less good:

  • text is extracted.
  • graphics are accessible but we are trying to make it even better.
  • the fonts are found and they have width flags so we have a VWF and an editor too.
  • I am working on the control codes.
  • they plan already to dub the sound too.
  •  we just are waiting to see if we get a 3rd line of text on screen.
I don't post anything else as the font with all the kanji (thanks to jjjevel for building this), the GKUnpacker (thanks to Henke37 / need adobe air) for extract and splitt the game in to single files and the PNG that are the graphics that was inside the other file there. Anything else is a mess (like the game by the way).

Apart this, i want to signal a good tutorial for all aspitant NDS hackers and the tool of choise "Crystaltile2"

The "playing around" is actually becoming a translation project.

AAI2

Do i really need to say more??

An international group of people is getting together to translate this game.

International because the VWF and 3 lines / each screen is worked on by Wivern (if i remember well) from italy,

A french group is working on it with hackotedelaplaque.

Henke 37 and myself are working on it too and the translators are scattered around the usa.

 

I will upload a partial table for AAI1 and AAI2 with some tech info in AAI2.

Just a little updates:

The 2 screens are the background when loading the cases... i was really tired yesterday before i go to sleep so I missed those.

Updated "Anatomy of Gyakuten Kenji 2" to version 0.2.

It seems that Capcom this time groupped images, tiles, animation and palettes in groups.

The next step is to view some of those images / tiles do make a better description of the files.

New day, new post

Hi again,
I spend a bit of time with AAI2 the last night and he is telling me slowly but sure all secrets he has :p
 The text is still eluding me but just because I made the "wrong" choice from where to start.
Based on the fact that in the last game there was no text on the directory "jpn", i started to look on the "com".
Now i almost parsed all files in that directory so or the text is still on the overlays or it's on the directory "jpn".
It's not that i wasted my time parsing the other files because it brings new informations to me and to u about the graphics and how the game is build.
To celebrate that, pic up the "Anatomy of Gyakuten Kenji 2" on his first version that is still incomplete from the download site.

I need your help if u played the game, first of all if u have a savegame for DSTWO card.

The second thing is if u know where the following 2 screens are used on the game:

Save1 Save2Pic3

 

And some other that are not so clear but on the right way to be cracked :p...

Before 2 months with no news and now 2 posts in one day :p

I just wake up 2 hours ago and was looking at the differences between AAI1 and AAI2.

AAI1 = Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 
AAI2 = Ace Attorney Investigations 2 (inofficial title) = Gyakuten Kenji 2 


Just looking at the size, it seems that the text is not on the ovelays anymore or it's been compressed.


The good news for this post are the work-in-progress of the translations of AAI1 and 3 languages:
Spanish (saddly 2 months no update)
French (1 month no update and a bit behind the spanish translation)
German (there is not prgress % but from the screens they seem more or less on the same place as the others)

Now I will go back and hopefully at least find in what file the text in AAI2 is.

Since my last post there is nothing really happening because busy in real life and no time to spend in this.
Anyway there are some news:

-the splitting tool is on the way even if the author had to suffer a major fallback on his projects because of an HDD failure...the fallback is almost all work/tool/source codes for the translations of Grandia PSX. Sorry to hear that Mentz and thanks again to help me with my things.

- there are some bytes where PWSE doesn't some errors. This errors need to be fixed by hand for now.

-it seems that the translations are going on smoothly.

-The best thing is that after reading an illarious threat about AAI2 and some people trying to translate it, i decided to take a look at the game.
From what i saw in the first 30min, nothing surprising inside of it. Many more files than the other games but still file in file system like usual. Probably it's even easier to find the subfiles because of the magic words.
I don't know how well  the GBADec is programmed but the first 2 files i try to decompress, was processed without...
